Louisiana outlasts Mississippi RiverKings, 4-2Cajundome Sat, Dec 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Louisiana IceGators gutted out a close 4-2 win against Mississippi RiverKings. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Tyler Klein's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Louisiana was paced by Adam Stuart, who finished with one goal. Stuart scored 12:12 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Louisiana. Shawn Skelly provided the assist. The IceGators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Louisiana relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Stuart, Chris Wilson and Matt Viola took 13 of the team's 23 shots. Louisiana additionally got points from Wilson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Shawn McNeil and Jason Cohen, who contributed one each. Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Leo Thomas, who racked up one goal. Thomas scored 19 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Andrew Randazzo picked up the assist. Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Devin Mantha as well. More assists for Mississippi RiverKings came via Bryon Paulazzo and Matt Whitehead, who each chipped in one. Marco De Filippo made 27 saves for the IceGators on 29 shots. Louisiana totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Mississippi RiverKings' Adam Courchaine stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
