The Pensacola Ice Flyers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Fayetteville FireAntz would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. Fayetteville took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have Pensacola storm back on a Corey Banfield goal 19:34 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The FireAntz's Sean Bonar was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 43 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Bonar will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.93 entering the contest. Fayetteville was led by Kyle McNeil, who racked up one goal. McNeil scored 15:42 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Fayetteville. Austin Daae assisted on the tally. The FireAntz stifled the Ice Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fayetteville was below its usual level of shot production, taking 22 shots compared to the 29.1 the FireAntz average. Fayetteville additionally got points from Daae, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Fayetteville came via Mike Kavanagh and Corey Tamblyn, who each chipped in one.
