Knoxville falls to Peoria in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Peoria Civic Center Sat, Dec 13, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Peoria Rivermen pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears on a clutch goal by Alex Hudson. Hudson had two goals to lead Peoria to victory. Hudson's tallies came at 19:40 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and 4:14 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Peoria. The Rivermen were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and two majors for 60 minutes in penalty time. Peoria had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. With 37 shots on target during the contest, the Rivermen exceeded the 25.1 shots they average per game this year. Peoria also got a goal from Jake Trask as well. In addition, Peoria received assists from Nick Schneider, who had two and Michael Slowikowski, Dan Bremner, and Josh Harris, who each chipped in one. Knoxville racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Ice Bears surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. Knoxville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Peoria power plays. The Ice Bears relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Francis Drolet, Mike Henderson and Eric Satim took 21 of the team's 39 shots. Knoxville was helped by Peter Neal, who tallied one goal. Neal scored on the power play 12:04 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville. An interference penalty on Harris had put the Ice Bears on the power play. Berkley Scott picked up the assist. More assists for Knoxville came via Jason Price and Ryan Salvis, who contributed one each. Kyle Rank made 37 saves for Peoria on 39 shots. The Rivermen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Amburgey was ejected from the game. Knoxville's Braely Torris stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Ice Bears registered two goals on 10 power play opportunities.
