Banfield leads Pensacola over Mississippi RiverKings, 4-1

The Pensacola Ice Flyers' Corey Banfield had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 4-1 win over Mississippi RiverKings.

Banfield got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 16:26 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pensacola. Pensacola had gotten the advantage when Mississippi RiverKings' Reid Campbell was sent off for tripping. Brett Lutes picked up the assist. Banfield dished an assist on Adam Pawlick's goal that made the score 3-0 Pensacola at 2:07 into the second period. He added another helper on Pawlick's goal that made the score 4-0 Pensacola at 13:57 into the second period.

The Ice Flyers were led by goalie Max Strang, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Strang will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.76.

Pensacola kept Mississippi RiverKings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Courchaine made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Pensacola also got a goal from Mitchell Good as well. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Cody Ferriero, who had two and Drew Akins and Michael Budd, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi RiverKings' offense rang up 36 shots on the Ice Flyers' net.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Andrew Randazzo, who dished out one assist.

Pensacola totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
