Fayetteville rolls over Huntsville, 4-1

The Huntsville Havoc had trouble finding ways to stop the Fayetteville FireAntz, which beat Havoc, 4-1.

Fayetteville was led by goalie Kevin Murdock, who finished with 36 saves while allowing one goal. Murdock certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.88 entering the contest.

The FireAntz were led by Matt Robertson, who registered one goal and one assist. Robertson scored on the power play 11:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Fayetteville. Fayetteville earned a power play opportunity when Nicholas Kuqali was put in the box for tripping. Corey Tamblyn picked up the assist.

The FireAntz's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and five majors for 55 minutes in penalty time. Fayetteville surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game. The FireAntz excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Fayetteville got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. The FireAntz's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.9 shots per game they average.

Fayetteville additionally got points from Corey Toy, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and John Clewlow, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Fayetteville came via Randy Cameron and Jan Safar, who each chipped in one.

Huntsville was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and five majors for 55 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game the Havoc had been spending in the box. Fayetteville was unable to stop Huntsville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Havoc eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Huntsville was led by Jacob Johnstone, who scored the team's only goal. Johnstone scored 13:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fayetteville. Nick Lazorko provided the assist.

The FireAntz registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Fayetteville, Tyler Sheldrake was ejected from the game. The Havoc's Jesse Kallechy stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Huntsville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Corey Bellamy was ejected from the game.
