Peoria survives Knoxville comeback, wins 3-2

The Peoria Rivermen survived a determined comeback attempt by the Knoxville Ice Bears on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Tyler Amburgey put Peoria up 3-0 in the second period, but Knoxville pulled to within one on Peter Neal's tally 1:00 into the third period.

Amburgey was all over the ice for the Rivermen, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Peoria put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Ice Bears to score on any of their three power plays. The Rivermen got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. By firing 35 shots on goal, Peoria exceeded the 24.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Peoria additionally got points from Dan Bremner, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Peoria came via Alec Hagaman, who had two and Alex Hudson and Ben Warda, who contributed one each.

Knoxville was helped by David Segal, who tallied one goal. Segal scored 19:29 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Peoria. Jason Price assisted on the tally. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Berkley Scott, Ryan Salvis, and Eric Satim, who each chipped in one.

The Rivermen's Kyle Rank stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Peoria totaled 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. The Ice Bears' starting goalie, Bryan Hince, made 13 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Braely Torris, who stopped 19 shots. Knoxville ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
