Huntsville falls to Fayetteville in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Corey Tamblyn gave the Fayetteville FireAntz a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Huntsville Havoc when he scored 4:34 into the extra period.

Fayetteville was led by goalie Sean Bonar, who finished with 41 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Bonar will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.93 entering the contest.

The FireAntz's penalty kill excelled, as Fayetteville gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The FireAntz forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and three majors for 51 minutes in penalty time. Fayetteville had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. The FireAntz stifled Huntsville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 34 shots on goal, Fayetteville exceeded the 29.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Brad Drobot also scored for Fayetteville. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Corey Toy, Trever Hertz, and Jan Safar, who each chipped in one.

The Havoc's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and three majors for 47 minutes in penalty time. Huntsville surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. The Havoc excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The FireAntz were unable to stop Huntsville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Havoc eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Huntsville was led by Luke Greiner, who scored the team's only goal. Greiner scored 4:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Jacob Johnstone assisted on the tally.

For Fayetteville, John Clewlow and Tyler Sheldrake were ejected from the contest. Jesse Kallechy made 32 saves for the Havoc on 34 shots. Team's Nick Lazorko and Corey Bellamy were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
