Pensacola downs Mississippi RiverKings, 2-1

Corey Banfield had one point to lead the Pensacola Ice Flyers to a 2-1 victory over Mississippi RiverKings.

Pensacola put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mississippi RiverKings to score on any of its four power plays.

Drew Baker also scored for Pensacola. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Cody Ferriero and Jeremy Gates, who contributed one each.

Mississippi RiverKings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Mississippi RiverKings was below its usual level of shot production, taking 19 shots compared to the 28.1 Mississippi RiverKings averages. Mississippi RiverKings' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with nine shots between them.

Mississippi RiverKings was led by Dylan Quaile, who scored the team's only goal. Quaile scored 6:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississippi RiverKings. Michael McCann provided the assist.

Garrett Bartus rejected 18 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Adam Courchaine recorded 26 saves for Mississippi RiverKings. Mississippi RiverKings ended with 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors.
