The Pensacola Ice Flyers beat Mississippi RiverKings, 3-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Pensacola got the win with help from a great game by Baker, who had two goals and one assist. Baker scored the first of his two goals at 5:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brett Lutes provided the assist. Baker's next tally made the score 2-1 Pensacola with 9:22 left in the first period. Budd picked up the assist.

The Ice Flyers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Budd, Lutes and Baker took 17 of the team's 31 shots. Pensacola got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Mitchell Good also scored for Pensacola. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Drew Akins, who had one.

Mississippi RiverKings was helped by Matt Harrington, who registered one goal and one assist. Harrington scored 13:30 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pensacola. Matt Whitehead provided the assist. Mississippi RiverKings also got points from Whitehead, who also racked up one goal and one assist.

Max Strang made 28 saves for the Ice Flyers on 30 shots. Pensacola incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Mississippi RiverKings' Peter Di Salvo stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
