Knoxville rides Torris to victory over Mississippi RiverKings, 3-1

The Knoxville Ice Bears relied on the sparkling performance of Braely Torris in net to grab a 3-1 win against Mississippi RiverKings.

Knoxville was led by Travis Janke, who tallied one goal. Janke scored 18:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville. Berkley Scott picked up the assist.

The Ice Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Knoxville averages 23.2 shots on goal per game, but only sent 18 pucks on net against Mississippi RiverKings.

Knoxville also had goals scored by Eric Satim and David Segal, who each put in one. More assists for Knoxville came via Ryan Salvis, who had two and Peter Neal and Lucas Van Natter, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi RiverKings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Ice Bears to score on any of their three power plays. Mississippi RiverKings relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Matt Harrington, Devin Mantha and Mike Hayward took 20 of the team's 35 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi RiverKings were Matt Whitehead, who had one.

Torris rejected 34 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Mississippi RiverKings' Adam Courchaine stopped 15 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Mississippi RiverKings ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
