The Louisiana IceGators and the Pensacola Ice Flyers both failed to score in overtime, but Louisiana won the game 5-4 (3-2 SO) after Shawn Skelly's deciding goal in the shootout. The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout. Pensacola got shootout goals from Cody Ferriero and Brett Lutes. In addition to the clincher, the IceGators got shootout goals from Adam Stuart and Luke Kasteel.Louisiana almost relinquished a three-score lead. The IceGators made it 5-2 on a goal by Skelly at 15:43 in the second period. The Ice Flyers got to within 5-4 on a goal by Michael Budd at 18:18 in the third period.
