The Louisiana IceGators and the Pensacola Ice Flyers both failed to score in overtime, but Louisiana won the game 5-4 (3-2 SO) after Shawn Skelly's deciding goal in the shootout.

Louisiana almost relinquished a three-score lead. The IceGators made it 5-2 on a goal by Skelly at 15:43 in the second period. The Ice Flyers got to within 5-4 on a goal by Michael Budd at 18:18 in the third period.

Louisiana was led by Stuart, who finished with one goal and one assist. Stuart scored 5:25 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Louisiana. Skelly provided the assist.

The IceGators surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Louisiana averages 2.7 goals per game. The IceGators relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Stuart, Jason Cohen and Skelly took 18 of the team's 32 shots.

Louisiana additionally got points from Skelly, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kasteel also scored for Louisiana. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Benjamin Rubin, who had two and Matt Viola, Tyler Barr, and Mike MacIntyre, who contributed one each.

Pensacola excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Ice Flyers gave up more goals than its normal season average. Pensacola is averaging 2.3 goals against for the season. The Ice Flyers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Budd, Ferriero and Lutes took 16 of the team's 30 shots.

Pensacola also got points from Lutes, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Mitchell Good, Adam Pawlick, Steve Bergin, Corey Banfield, and Jeremy Gates, who each chipped in one.

Marco De Filippo recorded 26 saves for Louisiana. The IceGators ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Pensacola's Max Strang stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Ice Flyers totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play.
