Peoria squeaks by Knoxville, 4-2

The Peoria Rivermen and the Knoxville Ice Bears were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Peoria made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Rivermen gained the winning advantage on a goal by Alex Hudson 18:08 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Hudson had a great game for Peoria, netting two goals.

The Rivermen stifled Knoxville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Peoria also got points from Gabriel Levesque, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Garrett Vermeersch also scored for Peoria. More assists for Peoria came via Cole Ruwe, who had four and Dan Bremner, Josh Harris, and Alec Hagaman, who contributed one each.

The Ice Bears forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Knoxville surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Ice Bears were helped by Eric Satim, who registered one goal. Satim scored 14:21 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Peoria. Jason Price assisted on the tally. Knoxville also got a goal from Corey Fulton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Travis Janke and Vince Perreault, who each chipped in one.

Eric Levine rejected 22 shots on goal for Peoria. The Rivermen totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-11 on the power play. Bryan Hince recorded 24 saves for Knoxville. The Ice Bears registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
