Braely Torris had a standout game with 34 saves, and the Knoxville Ice Bears beat the Fayetteville FireAntz 2-1. Knoxville was led by Ryan Salvis, who grabbed one goal. Salvis scored 3:02 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville. Eric Satim assisted on the tally. The Ice Bears kept Fayetteville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Murdock made 37 saves on 39 shots. Justin Kirsch also scored for Knoxville. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Travis Janke, Berkley Scott, and Francis Drolet, who contributed one each. The FireAntz's defensemen bolstered Fayetteville's offensive attack, as they bombarded Torris with 17 shots. Knoxville was unable to stop the FireAntz from sending pucks towards the net, and Fayetteville eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The FireAntz were led by Trever Hertz, who scored the team's only goal. Hertz scored 8:02 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Derek Elliott picked up the assist. The Ice Bears totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Fayetteville ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and had no power play opportunities.
