The Peoria Rivermen's Ben Warda scored seven seconds into overtime to beat the Pensacola Ice Flyers, 3-2 (OT). Peoria was sparked by Warda, who had one goal and one assist. The Rivermen's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Pensacola's power play unit. With 52 shots on target during the contest, Peoria exceeded the 24.8 shots it averages per game this year. Peoria also had goals scored by Jake Trask and Richie Zobak, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Jordan Sims, who had two and Garrett Vermeersch and Kyle Fletcher, who each chipped in one. The Ice Flyers stifled the Rivermen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pensacola put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.3 it averages per game. The Ice Flyers were helped by Cody Ferriero, who registered one goal. Ferriero scored on the power play 9:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. A high sticking penalty on Alex Hudson had put Pensacola on the power play. Adam Pawlick provided the assist. Drew Baker also scored for Pensacola. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Corey Banfield, who had two. Peoria's Kyle Rank stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Rivermen totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Max Strang rejected 49 shots on goal for the Ice Flyers. Pensacola ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
