Drolet's goals lift Knoxville to 4-1 victory over Peoria

The Knoxville Ice Bears relied on the scoring touch of Francis Drolet, who netted two goals, to beat the Peoria Rivermen, 4-1.

Drolet found the back of the net 2:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Knoxville and again while on the power play 18 seconds into the third to make the score 3-1 Knoxville.

Knoxville's Braely Torris was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 32 saves and let only one puck past him. Torris certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.33 entering the contest.

The Ice Bears stifled Peoria's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Knoxville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Drolet, Joe Tolles and Ben Power took 13 of the team's 24 shots.

Knoxville additionally got points from Power, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Knoxville also got a goal from Vince Perreault as well. Other players who recorded assists for Knoxville were Peter Neal, who had one and Robbie Donahoe and Ryan Salvis, who contributed two each.

The Rivermen could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Peoria averages 3.1 goals per game. The Ice Bears were unable to stop the Rivermen from sending pucks towards the net, and Peoria eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Rivermen were led by Dan Bremner, who scored the team's only goal. Bremner scored 11:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Alex Hudson picked up the assist.

Knoxville totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Peoria's Kyle Rank stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Rivermen totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
