Fayetteville falls to Huntsville in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Huntsville Havoc's Colin Hekle scored 3:17 into overtime to beat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 3-2 (OT).

Mike Henderson had a great game for Huntsville, netting two goals. Henderson's tallies came on the power play at 6:05 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 6:26 into the third to make the score 2-2.

Fayetteville was unable to stop the Havoc from sending pucks towards the net, and Huntsville eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

More assists for Huntsville came via Curtis Megginson, who had two and Stuart Stefan, Philip Wendecker, and Mike Gurtler, who contributed one each.

The FireAntz were below their usual level of shot production, taking 22 shots compared to the 27.7 Fayetteville averages. The FireAntz struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 21 penalty minutes for five opposing power plays.

Fayetteville was helped by Trever Hertz, who grabbed one goal. Hertz scored 7:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Mike Kavanagh picked up the assist. Fayetteville also got a goal from Derek Elliott as well. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from John Clewlow, who had two.

Jesse Kallechy made 20 saves for the Havoc on 22 shots. Huntsville ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Kevin Murdock rejected 28 shots on goal for the FireAntz. Fayetteville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
