Strang stymies Louisiana, Pensacola wins 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Max Strang helped the Pensacola Ice Flyers defeat the Louisiana IceGators, 4-1.

Pensacola was led by Jason Fabian, who grabbed one goal. Fabian scored 2:13 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pensacola. Brett Lutes assisted on the tally.

The Ice Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Louisiana power plays. By firing 34 shots on goal, Pensacola exceeded the 29.7 shots it averages per game this year.

Pensacola additionally got points from Jeremy Gates, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Pensacola included Paul Rodrigues and Adam Pawlick, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pensacola came via Jarrett Rush, Drew Akins, Brett Beebe, and Cody Ferriero, who each chipped in one.

Louisiana excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The 30 shots that the IceGators put on net surpassed Louisiana's average of 25.9 shots per game this season. The IceGators' defensemen bolstered Louisiana's offensive attack, as they bombarded Strang with 13 shots.

The IceGators were led by Jason Cohen, who scored the team's only goal. Cohen scored 10:54 into the second period to make the score 1-1.

The Ice Flyers' Strang stopped 29 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Pensacola ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Marco De Filippo recorded 30 saves for Louisiana. The IceGators ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
