The Louisiana IceGators' penalty kill was superb, as Louisiana survived multiple penalties to beat the Fayetteville FireAntz, 5-2. The IceGators were led by Mike MacIntyre, who registered one goal and one assist. MacIntyre scored on the power play 11:31 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Louisiana. Louisiana had gained a power play chance when Randy Cameron was whistled for slashing. Shawn McNeil picked up the assist. The IceGators were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. Louisiana had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The IceGators' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Louisiana averages 2.5 goals per contest. The IceGators' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Louisiana also got points from Benjamin Rubin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist.
