Bret Peppler racked up one point to lead the Louisiana IceGators to a 2-0 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz. Louisiana excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The IceGators was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Louisiana gives up 2.2 goals on average per game. By firing 30 shots on goal, the IceGators exceeded the 24.0 shots they average per game this year. Louisiana also got a goal from Matt Viola as well. More assists for Louisiana came via Shawn McNeil, Benjamin Rubin, Chris Wilson, and Jeremy Boyer, who each chipped in one. Fayetteville stifled Louisiana's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The FireAntz were below their usual level of shot production, taking 22 shots compared to the 27.8 Fayetteville averages. The FireAntz were led by Shawn Skelly, who took seven shots. The IceGators' Marco De Filippo stopped 22 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Louisiana totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Kevin Murdock recorded 28 saves for Fayetteville. The FireAntz ended with 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors.
