Peoria downs Louisiana, 3-0

Ben Warda registered one point to lead the Peoria Rivermen to a 3-0 victory over the Louisiana IceGators.

Peoria's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Louisiana power plays. The Rivermen was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Peoria gives up 2.8 goals on average per game. The Rivermen were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 25 penalty minutes.

Peoria also had goals scored by Cole Ruwe and Josh Harris, who scored one goal each. In addition, Peoria received assists from Garrett Vermeersch and Matt Summers, who contributed one each.

Louisiana's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and three majors for 49 minutes in penalty time. The IceGators had been averaging 28.0 minutes in penalties per game. Louisiana's offense operated below its season average. The IceGators put an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. Louisiana relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jeremy Boyer, Tanner Burton and Chris Wilson took 12 of the team's 19 shots.

Kyle Rank rejected 19 shots on goal for Peoria. The Rivermen registered two goals on 13 power play opportunities. The IceGators' Andrew Flemming stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. For Louisiana, Tyler Barr was ejected from the game.
