Pensacola blows out Columbus, 5-0

The Columbus Cottonmouths had trouble finding ways to stop the Pensacola Ice Flyers, which beat Cottonmouths, 5-0.

Pensacola was led by Adam Pawlick, who tallied one goal. Pawlick scored 11:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pensacola. Cody Ferriero provided the assist.

The Ice Flyers stifled Columbus' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pensacola's offense was clicking better than usual and put 43 shots on goal during the game, better than the 36.0 shots per game it averages.

Pensacola also got points from Ferriero, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Corey Banfield, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mitchell Good also scored for Pensacola. In addition, Pensacola received assists from Drew Baker, Luke Greiner, Drew Akins, Phil Tesoriero, and Jeremy Gates, who each chipped in one.

The Cottonmouths average 24.5 shots on goal per game, but only sent 19 pucks on net against the Ice Flyers.

Columbus was led by Louis Belisle, who took five shots.

Max Strang made 19 saves for Pensacola on 19 shots. The Ice Flyers totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Andrew Loewen rejected 38 shots on goal for the Cottonmouths. Columbus totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
