Behind a great game by Ryan Salvis, who had two goals and two assists, the Knoxville Ice Bears defeated Mississippi RiverKings, 5-1. Salvis scored short handed at 9:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Knoxville and again while 3:55 into the second to make the score 2-1 Knoxville.Knoxville stifled Mississippi RiverKings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 33 shots on goal, the Ice Bears exceeded the 28.0 shots they average per game this year. Knoxville also got points from Eric Satim, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Francis Drolet, who also registered one goal and two assists. David Segal also scored for Knoxville. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Jason Price, Peter Neal, and Vince Perreault, who each chipped in one. Mississippi RiverKings excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Mississippi RiverKings failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 21 pucks on goal after averaging 29.5 shots per game this season.
