Behind a great game by Adam Stuart, who had two goals, the Louisiana IceGators defeated the Fayetteville FireAntz, 6-3. Stuart scored at 19:15 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Louisiana and again while 12:15 into the third to make the score 5-3 Louisiana.Louisiana bested its season scoring average. This season, the IceGators average 2.5 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Louisiana's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.6 shots per game it averages. Louisiana also had goals scored by Nicholas Kuqali, Clark Byczynski, Chris Wilson, and Mitchell Stretch, who each put in one. More assists for Louisiana came via Matt Viola, Matt Robertson, and Jeremy Boyer, who contributed one each and Luke Kasteel, Benjamin Rubin, and Tanner Burton, who each chipped in two. Fayetteville was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. The FireAntz had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Fayetteville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. By firing 32 shots on goal, the FireAntz exceeded the 23.2 shots they average per game this year. Fayetteville was led by Austin Daae, who had two goals. Daae scored the first of his two goals at 11:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Mike Kavanagh assisted on the tally. Daae's next tally made the score 4-3 Louisiana with 16:03 left in the third period. Kyle McNeil picked up the assist. Darcy Vaillancourt also scored for Fayetteville. In addition, Fayetteville received assists from Randy Cameron, Derek Elliott, and Trever Hertz, who contributed one each. Andrew Flemming rejected 29 shots on goal for the IceGators. Louisiana ended with 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. For the IceGators, Tyler Barr was ejected from the game. The FireAntz's starting goalie, Sam Marotta, made 21 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Dustin Carlson, who stopped eight shots. Fayetteville registered two goals on two power play opportunities.
