Port Hope shrugs off penalties, upends Campbellford, 4-1

The Campbellford Rebels failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Port Hope Panthers shook off a number of penalties to win, 4-1.

Port Hope was led by Hunter Baker, who racked up one goal. Baker scored 19:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Hope. Dylan Baxter picked up the assist.

Team could not crack Campbellford's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 13 opportunities to play with the man advantage. The Panthers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Port Hope additionally got points from Chandler Gillespie, who also had one goal and one assist and Shawn Mackie, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Port Hope also got a goal from Dan Lagrois as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Jacob Spicer, who had two and Cameron McGill and Rory Milne, who contributed one each.

The Rebels were held below their usual level of production. Campbellford averages 3.7 goals per game. Port Hope's defense shut down the Rebels' forwards for much of the game, and Campbellford got off only 13 shots during the contest. The Rebels' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Campbellford finished with 64 penalty minutes.

The Rebels were led by Austin Fry, who scored the team's only goal. Fry scored on the power play 11:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Campbellford had taken the advantage when the Panthers' Mackie got sent off for slashing. Jeremiah Doherty assisted on the tally.

Devan Tremblay recorded 12 saves for Port Hope. The Rebels' Reilly Dunn stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Campbellford registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Rebels, Nick Ferguson was ejected from the game.
