Amherstview shrugs off penalties, upends Napanee, 2-1

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Amherstview Jets were able to defeat the Napanee Raiders, 2-1.

Amherstview was sparked by Zach Masterson, who finished with one goal. Masterson scored 14:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amherstview. Dorian Overland provided the assist.

The Jets found themselves short handed often, totaling 34 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Amherstview also got a goal from Jordan Howe as well. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Adam Alcorn and Cassidy Bruni, who each chipped in one.

Napanee did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Raiders average 4.5 goals per game.

Napanee was led by Evan Brown, who scored the team's only goal. Brown scored on the power play 8:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. The Raiders had gained a power play chance when Josh Kurish was whistled for head contact. Aidan Girduckis picked up the assist.

Amherstview's Ryan Kaszuba stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Jets registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Napanee's starting goalie, Jon White APM, made eight saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Cameron Parr, who stopped 13 shots. The Raiders incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
