Amherstview takes care of Campbellford early, wins 6-2

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Campbellford Rebels, which could not recover and fell to the Amherstview Jets, 6-2.

Cosimo Morin had two goals to lead Amherstview to victory. Morin's tallies came at 9:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amherstview and 12:22 into the first to make the score 4-0 Amherstview.

The Jets forced Campbellford's goaltenders to work in net, taking 31 shots and forcing 25 saves. Cole Mahoney made 25 stops and Reilly Dunn made zero. Amherstview's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Campbellford power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Amherstview additionally got points from Jordan Howe, who also had one goal and one assist and Dorian Overland, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Cody Jodoin and Cassidy Bruni, who each put in one. More assists for Amherstview came via Riley West, who had one, Brett Yake, who had two, and Zach Masterson, who had three.

The Rebels excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Campbellford forced the Jets goalie Ryan Kaszuba to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Rebels were led by Jeremiah Doherty, who registered one goal and one assist. Doherty scored 50 seconds into the third period to make the score 5-2 Amherstview. Colin Doyle picked up the assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Josh Leavey as well. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Jon Samis, who had one.

Amherstview's Kaszuba stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Jets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Campbellford ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Rebels, William Lameroux and Andrew Doxtator were ejected from the contest.
