Picton erases deficit to stun Port Hope, 3-2

The Picton Pirates climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Port Hope Panthers, 3-2.

Picton never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Pirates fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Port Hope's Tyler Davey at 1:47 in the third period. Picton tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Taylor Brown at 5:11 in the third period. The Pirates netted the game winner at 19:36 in the third period on a goal by Brown.

Chris Jones was all over the ice for Picton, as he grabbed two goals in the win.

Other players who recorded assists for Picton were James Pero - APM, Brian Bunnett, and Mitchell Merry, who contributed one each.

The Panthers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Port Hope puts an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. The Panthers kept the Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Kazmierczak made 49 saves on 51 shots.

Port Hope additionally got points from Jacob Spicer, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Cameron McGill, Dan Lagrois, and Nathan Snoek, who each chipped in one.

Picton totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and had no power play opportunities. For the Pirates, Noah Sager and Mitch Burke were ejected from the contest. Branson Schell made 20 saves for Port Hope on 23 shots. The Panthers totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Port Hope, Mike Smith was ejected from the game.
