Amherstview takes care of Deseronto early, wins 9-2

The Amherstview Jets opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-2 win over the Deseronto Storm.

Amherstview got the win behind a great game by Brett Yake, who had two goals and two assists. Yake scored the first of his two goals at 10:46 into the second period to make the score 6-0 Amherstview. Cassidy Bruni picked up the assist. Yake's next tally made the score 7-0 Amherstview with 1:42 left in the second period. Adam Alcorn provided the assist.

The Jets' offense rang up 65 shots on Deseronto's net. Amherstview found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Jets average 4.0 goals per game.

Amherstview also got points from Cam Blakeley, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Bruni, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Joey Mayer, who had two and Jag Masters, Brody Taylor, and Dorian Overland, who each put in one. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Cody Jodoin, Wyatt Crampton, Max Brunner, and Cosimo Morin, who contributed one each and Zach Masterson and Jordan Howe, who each chipped in two.

The Storm kept Amherstview's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Kaszuba made 36 saves on 38 shots.

Deseronto was helped by Brodie Maracle, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Maracle scored 3:38 into the third period to make the score 8-1 Amherstview. Liam Hunter picked up the assist. Deseronto also got a goal from Jeff Hoey as well. More assists for Deseronto came via Devin MacLean, who had two.

The Jets incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Aaron Young made 56 saves for the Storm on 65 shots. Deseronto totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. The Storm ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and MacLean was ejected from the game.
