Port Hope survives Napanee comeback, wins 6-4Strathcona Paper Tue, Jan 27, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Hope Panthers, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Napanee Raiders and clinched a 6-4 victory. Port Hope led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Panthers' Tyler Davey scored at 14:05 in the second period to put Port Hope up 5-2. The Panthers were led by Kallen McFarland, who racked up one goal and one assist. McFarland scored 19:21 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Port Hope. Cameron McGill picked up the assist. In a losing effort, Napanee was led by Mitch Pearce, who finished with two goals. Pearce scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 53 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Napanee. The Raiders had gotten the advantage when Port Hope's McFarland was sent off for high sticking. Keenan Murray assisted on the tally. Pearce's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Port Hope with 10:00 left in the third period. Zach Knapp-Hermer picked up the assist. The Panthers forced Napanee's netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Cameron Parr made 19 stops and Tomo Mikuljan made 12. Port Hope could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 44 minutes in penalties during the game. Port Hope also got points from Davey, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Port Hope included Josh Cameron, Matthew Hunt, Chandler Gillespie, and Nathan Snoek, who each put in one. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Dylan Baxter, who had three and Jacob Spicer, Dan Lagrois, and Dalton Lawrence, who each chipped in one. Napanee also had goals scored by Cullen Hinds and Austin Boulard, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Napanee were Brodie Butt, who had one and Aidan Girduckis, who had two. Devan Tremblay rejected 19 shots on goal for the Panthers. Port Hope registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Raiders incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
