Picton stifles Napanee's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The Picton Pirates, who led by four goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Napanee Raiders and clinched a 6-4 victory.

Picton led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Pirates' Chris Jones scored on the power play at 6:47 in the second period to put Picton up 4-0.

Curtis Colbary had two goals and one assist to lead the Pirates. Colbary scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:50 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Picton. Picton had gotten the advantage when Napanee's Brodie Butt was sent off for fighting. David Hopfer provided the assist. Colbary's next tally on the power play made the score 6-4 Picton with 5:37 left in the third period. Hopfer picked up the assist.

The Pirates forced the Raiders' goalies to work all game long, ripping 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Cameron Parr made 21 stops and Tomo Mikuljan made five.

Picton additionally got points from Phil Smith, who also had one goal and one assist. Picton also got a goal from Taylor Brown as well. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Mitchell Merry, who had one and Brian Bunnett, who had three.

Napanee forced Picton goalie Nick Kazmierczak to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Napanee also got points from Keenan Murray, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jordan Cannons, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Napanee came via Matthew Muller, Brandon Nadeau, Zack Revell, Zach Knapp-Hermer, and Austin Boulard, who each chipped in one.

Kazmierczak rejected 27 shots on goal for the Pirates. Picton incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Raiders totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For Napanee, Butt was ejected from the game.
