Napanee beats Campbellford 6-0 as Parr gains shutout

Cameron Parr made 31 saves to complete the shutout and led the Napanee Raiders to a 6-0 win against the Campbellford Rebels.

Campbellford was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Napanee was able to score four times while on the power play.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:50 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Raiders forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Napanee surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders stifled the Rebels' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Napanee featured an improved defense during the game. The Raiders average 2.8 goals allowed per game. Napanee forced Campbellford goalie Cole Mahoney to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

The Raiders were led by Josh Murphy, who had one goal and one assist. Murphy scored 2:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. Aidan Girduckis assisted on the tally. Napanee also had goals scored by Troy Wylie, who had two and Kyle Murphy, Brandon Nadeau, and Jordan Cannons, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Napanee were Brodie Butt, who had two and Riley Steeves, Mitch Pearce, Cullen Hinds, Will Peirson, and Adam Bennett, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. Campbellford had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Rebels could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Campbellford puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. Napanee was unable to stop the Rebels from sending pucks towards the net, and Campbellford eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

For the Raiders, Nicolas Schuler was ejected from the game. Cole Mahoney made 32 saves for the Rebels on 38 shots. Campbellford registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. The Rebels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Josh Hodge was ejected from the game.
