Early goals doom Deseronto, falls to Picton, 9-0Deseronto & District CC Fri, Jan 02, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
A five-goal first period deficit cost the Deseronto Storm, which could not recover and fell to the Picton Pirates, 9-0. Nolan Van Vlack had a great game for Picton, netting two goals. Van Vlack scored at 1:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Picton and again while 13:20 into the first to make the score 3-0 Picton. The Pirates excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Deseronto was unable to stop Picton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Pirates eventually piled up 58 shots on goal. Picton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Pirates average 4.1 goals per game. Picton also got points from Curtis Colbary, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Picton also had goals scored by Corey Prince, who had three and Miles Levtov, Mitchell Merry, and Phil Smith, who scored one goal each. More assists for Picton came via Noah Sager, who had one, Devin McCann, who had three, and Austin Labelle, Nate Kellar, Curtis Smith, and Taylor Brown, who each chipped in two. Nick Kazmierczak made 21 saves for Picton on 21 shots. The Pirates incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Aaron Young recorded 49 saves for the Storm. Deseronto incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
