Napanee rips Amherstview, 8-2

The Napanee Raiders had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over the Amherstview Jets.

Jordan Cannons had two goals and one assist to lead Napanee. Cannons scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. A cross checking penalty on Konner Burtenshaw had put the Raiders on the power play. Keenan Murray picked up the assist. Cannons' next tally on the power play made the score 5-1 Napanee with 28 seconds left in the second period. Riley Steeves assisted on the tally.

Napanee forced Jets' goalies to work all game long, finishing with 34 shots and forcing 26 saves. Ryan Kaszuba made 15 stops and Graeme Gemmill-Peters made 11. The Raiders outdid their season average for goals scored. Napanee averages 4.2 goals per game.

Napanee also got points from Murray, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Steeves, who also had one goal and one assist, Brandon Nadeau, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Mitch Pearce, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Napanee included Cullen Hinds and Austin Boulard, who each put in one. In addition, Napanee received assists from Josh Murphy, who had two and Troy Wylie and Zack Revell, who each chipped in one.

Amherstview was helped by Dorian Overland, who grabbed one goal. Overland scored on the power play 11:17 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Napanee. The Jets had gotten the advantage when the Raiders' Michael Parr was sent off for slashing. Josh Kurish picked up the assist. Amherstview also got a goal from Cosimo Morin as well. More assists for Amherstview came via Cassidy Bruni, who had one.

Cameron Parr recorded 22 saves for Napanee. The Raiders incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Amherstview incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
