Campbellford survives Picton comeback, wins 7-5

The Picton Pirates almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Campbellford Rebels managed to pull out a 7-5 win in the end.

Campbellford led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Rebels' Josh Hodge scored at 18:25 in the first period to put Campbellford up 4-1.

The Rebels forced Picton goalie Brock Tufts to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Campbellford's goal total was higher than its season average. The Rebels average 4.0 goals per game.

Campbellford was led by Corey Lasko, who tallied two goals. Lasko scored the first of his two goals at 2:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford. Hodge picked up the assist. Lasko's next tally made the score 5-3 Campbellford with 58 seconds left in the second period. William Lameroux assisted on the tally. Campbellford additionally got points from Colin Doyle, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Hodge, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Campbellford included Austin Fry, Ethan McDougall, and Jon Samis, who scored one goal each. More assists for Campbellford came via Jeremiah Doherty, who had two and Travis Bennett and Karn Dart, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels were unable to stop the Pirates from sending pucks towards the net, and Picton eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Pirates were helped by Chris Jones, who registered two goals and one assist. Jones scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:11 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Campbellford. Picton had gotten the advantage when Campbellford's Riley Reynolds was sent off for high sticking. Brian Bunnett picked up the assist. Jones' next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Campbellford with five seconds left in the second period. Curtis Smith provided the assist. Picton also got points from Bunnett, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Smith, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Picton also got a goal from Mitch Burke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Taylor Brown, who had two and Austin Labelle, Devin McCann, and Phil Smith, who contributed one each.

Cole Mahoney made 28 saves for the Rebels on 33 shots. Campbellford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tufts rejected 24 shots on goal for the Pirates. Picton incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
