Port Hope wins tough contest against Napanee, 4-3Jack Burger Sports Complex Sat, Nov 22, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Hope Panthers gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Napanee Raiders. Port Hope gained the winning advantage on a goal by Dylan Baxter 1:35 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Napanee's power play was ineffective against the Panthers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Port Hope was led by Baxter, who grabbed one goal and one assist. The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Others who scored for Port Hope included Rory Milne, Jordan Leigh, and Mike Smith, who each put in one. More assists for Port Hope came via Hunter Baker, Jacob Spicer, Braeden Kublick, and Kallen McFarland, who contributed one each. The Raiders struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. Napanee was helped by Mitch Pearce, who finished with one goal. Pearce scored 2:29 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Keenan Murray picked up the assist. Napanee also had goals scored by Brodie Butt and Zach Knapp-Hermer, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Napanee were Michael Parr and Will Peirson, who each chipped in one. Alec Brown rejected 19 shots on goal for Port Hope. The Panthers ended with 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Port Hope ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nathan Snoek was ejected from the game. Tomo Mikuljan recorded 26 saves for the Raiders.
