Huge game by Bruni boosts Amherstview over Deseronto, 6-4Deseronto & District CC Fri, Nov 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amherstview Jets' Cassidy Bruni had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 6-4 win over the Deseronto Storm. Bruni's tallies came at 2:02 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and on the power play 15:57 into the first to make the score 3-1 Amherstview.Amherstview led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jets' Brett Yake scored at 2:45 in the second period to put Amherstview up 6-2. Deseronto fell victim to a deadly the Jets power play, which ripped the Storm for four goals. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:21 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. Amherstview forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Jets surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Amherstview forced Deseronto goalie Matt Loveys to work between the pipes, taking 62 shots. Amherstview also got points from Yake, who also registered two goals and one assist and Brody Taylor, who also had one goal and one assist. Cody Smith also scored for Amherstview. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Jordan Howe, who had two and Adam Alcorn, Jesse Stone, and Ben Bianco, who contributed one each. The Storm's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 14 minors and one major for 93 minutes in penalty time. Deseronto had been averaging 34.0 minutes in penalties per game. The defensemen of the Storm were also effective in the Jets' zone, and came away with two goals. Deseronto was helped by Jordon Guindon, who racked up one goal and one assist. Guindon scored 1:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Deseronto. Jeff Hoey assisted on the tally. Deseronto additionally got points from Chris Rogalsky, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Bobby Breadman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Deseronto also got a goal from Mitchell Thompson as well. More assists for Deseronto came via Daniel Ulrick, Brodie Maracle, Brett Maracle, and Tryston Teichman, who each chipped in one. Graeme Gemmill-Peters recorded 21 saves for Amherstview. For the Jets, Konner Burtenshaw and Wyatt Crampton were ejected from the contest. The Storm's Loveys stopped 56 shots out of the 62 that he faced. Deseronto registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Team's Breadman, Kim Gauthier, and Maracle were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
