Port Hope downs Campbellford in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Port Hope Panthers pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Campbellford Rebels on a clutch goal by Mike Smith.

Smith had two goals to lead Port Hope to victory. Smith found the back of the net 12:46 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Hope and again while 3:24 into the fourth to make the score 4-3 Port Hope.

The Panthers' offense rang up 35 shots on Campbellford's net. Port Hope could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. The Panthers were held back by their power play unit, which tallied one goal on 10 chances.

Port Hope also got points from Dylan Baxter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Port Hope also got a goal from Shawn Mackie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Matthew Hunt, Jacob Spicer, Chays Ruddy, Nathan Snoek, and Braeden Kublick, who contributed one each.

The Rebels got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Campbellford was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 50 penalty minutes.

The Rebels were helped by Jeremiah Doherty, who registered one goal. Doherty scored on the power play 13:22 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Campbellford had taken the advantage when Port Hope's Baxter got sent off for inciting an opponent. Others who scored for Campbellford included Andrew Doxtator and Grant Fry, who scored one goal each. In addition, Campbellford received assists from Jacob Bennett, who had one and Koel Newton, who had two.

Alec Brown made 20 saves for the Panthers on 23 shots. The Rebels' Cole Mahoney stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Campbellford registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Rebels, Colin Doyle was ejected from the game.
