Strathcona Paper    Tue, Nov 11, 2014

The Napanee Raiders used a sparkling performance by Tomo Mikuljan to take down the Picton Pirates, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Napanee's 5-0 shutout victory.

The Raiders got the win with help from a great game by Brodie Butt, who had two goals and one assist. Butt scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. Napanee earned a power play opportunity when Austin Labelle was put in the box for slashing. Austin Boulard provided the assist. Butt's next tally on the power play made the score 5-0 Napanee with 2:32 left in the third period. Keenan Murray picked up the assist.

The Raiders stifled Picton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Napanee was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Raiders gives up 2.9 goals on average per game.

Napanee also got points from Murray, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Napanee also had goals scored by Riley Steeves and Cullen Hinds, who each put in one. In addition, Napanee received assists from Zach Knapp-Hermer, who had two and Troy Wylie, Nicolas Schuler, Adam Bennett, and Josh Murphy, who each chipped in one.

The Pirates did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Picton puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game.
