Huge game by Labelle boosts Picton over Deseronto, 10-0

Behind a great game by Austin Labelle, who had two goals and two assists, the Picton Pirates defeated the Deseronto Storm, 10-0.

Labelle scored on the power play at 1:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Picton and again while 13:37 into the second to make the score 6-0 Picton.

Picton was boosted by Brock Tufts, who turned in a shutout with 27 saves.

The Pirates' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Deseronto power plays. Picton's defensive play was more effective than usual against Deseronto. The Pirates average 2.7 goals allowed per game. Picton's offense rang up 45 shots on the Storm's net. The Pirates outdid their season average for goals scored. Picton averages 4.3 goals per game.

Picton also got points from Shaw Boomhower - APM, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Phil Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Picton included Corey Farrell and Mitch Burke, who each put in two and Devin McCann and Nolan Van Vlack, who scored one goal each. In addition, Picton received assists from Brian Bunnett, who had two and Calum Kennelly and Corey Prince, who contributed one each.

Deseronto's offense operated below its season average. The Storm average 2.4 goals per game.

The Pirates incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Matt Loveys recorded 35 saves for Deseronto. The Storm incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
