GAME RECAP

Mikuljan leads Napanee to shutout victory over Amherstview

Strathcona Paper    Sat, Oct 18, 2014

The Napanee Raiders used a sparkling performance by Tomo Mikuljan to take down the Amherstview Jets, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Napanee's 3-0 shutout victory.

Kyle Murphy had a great game for the Raiders, netting two goals. Murphy scored at 54 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Napanee and again while 16:35 into the third to make the score 3-0 Napanee.

Napanee's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Amherstview power plays. Amherstview was unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Napanee eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Josh Murphy also scored for Napanee. In addition, Napanee received assists from Will Peirson, who had two and Adam Bennett, Troy Wylie, Zack Revell, and Jordan Cannons, who each chipped in one.

The Jets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Amherstview did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jets average 4.0 goals per game.

Tomo Mikuljan made 26 saves for the Raiders on 26 shots. Napanee incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Ryan Kaszuba rejected 35 shots on goal for Amherstview. The Jets incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
