Picton rolls over Napanee, 3-0

The Napanee Raiders had trouble finding ways to stop the Picton Pirates, which beat Raiders, 3-0.

Picton was sparked by Chris Jones, who racked up one goal. Jones scored on the power play 11:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Picton. The Pirates earned a power play opportunity when Nicolas Schuler was put in the box for slashing. Brian Bunnett provided the assist.

Picton stifled Napanee's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Pirates was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Picton gives up 3.0 goals on average per game.

Picton also got points from Bunnett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Picton also got a goal from Austin Labelle as well. More assists for Picton came via Shaw Boomhower - APM and Phil Smith, who each chipped in one.

The Raiders could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Napanee averages 3.1 goals per game.

The Pirates' Andrew Pearson stopped 23 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Picton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tomo Mikuljan made 26 saves for the Raiders on 29 shots. Napanee incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Parr was ejected from the game.
