Campbellford beats Picton 5-0 as Mahoney gains shutout

Cole Mahoney was superb between the pipes for the Campbellford Rebels, as he did not allow a goal in a 5-0 victory over the Picton Pirates.

Jon Samis was all over the ice for Campbellford, as he finished with two goals in the win. Samis' tallies came at 3:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford and 9:01 into the third to make the score 3-0 Campbellford.

The Rebels excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Campbellford forced Picton goalie Brock Tufts to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Campbellford also got points from Colin Doyle, who also had one goal and one assist. Jeremiah Doherty also scored for Campbellford. More assists for Campbellford came via Ethan McDougall, who had two and Cole Hamilton, Andrew Doxtator, and Grant Fry, who contributed one each.

The Pirates did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Picton puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. The Pirates could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Mahoney recorded 28 saves for the Rebels. Campbellford incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Picton's Tufts stopped 38 shots out of the 43 that he faced.
