Dresden rides Tonietto to victory over Blenheim, 3-1

The Dresden Kings relied on the sparkling performance of Daniel Tonietto in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Blenheim Blades.

Dresden's penalty kill excelled, as the Kings gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Dresden was sparked by Derrick VanEvery, who racked up one goal and one assist. VanEvery scored 2:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dresden. Derek Shaw assisted on the tally.

The Kings stifled Blenheim's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dresden forced the Blades goalie Eric Stewardson to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Others who scored for Dresden included Dede Cato and Derek Daly, who each put in one. More assists for Dresden came via Kevin Ritzer, who had one.

Blenheim kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tonietto made 33 saves on 34 shots.

The Blades were led by Dallas Richard, who scored the team's only goal. Richard scored 2:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. Dylan Smith provided the assist.

Dresden incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Stewardson recorded 41 saves for Blenheim. The Blades ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. For Blenheim, Doug Ross was ejected from the game.
