Mooretown uses big games from Jasmin and Lumley to down Wheatley, 8-4Wheatley Area Arena Sat, Jan 10, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind one goal from Sam Jasmin and two goals Dan Lumley, the Mooretown Flags downed the Wheatley Sharks 8-4. Jasmin scored 14:14 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Mooretown. Brett Thompson assisted on the tally. Lumley scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. Mooretown earned a power play opportunity when Dylan Enns was put in the box for cross checking. Matt Brandon provided the assist. Lumley's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 15:07 left in the second period. Joe DeSena assisted on the tally.The Flags forced Sharks' goalies to work without much rest, finishing with 45 shots and forcing 37 saves. Conner MacKinnon made 27 stops and Adam Leboeuf made 10. Mooretown found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Flags have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Mooretown also got points from Ryan Lyle, who also racked up one goal and one assist, DeSena, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Thompson, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Mooretown also had goals scored by Justin Vanbuskirk and Caden Fleming, who each put in one. More assists for Mooretown came via Ben Morrison, who had two and Daytona Harrison, Austin Hewton, Clay Williams, and Colton Osborne, who contributed one each. Wheatley was led by Calyn Kir, who had three goals. Lucas Raffoul also scored for Wheatley. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Mike Reid, who had two, Shawn Hope, who had three, and Layne Gouin, Brian Johnson, and Frankie Ciacelli, who each chipped in one. Brandon Johnson rejected 20 shots on goal for Mooretown. The Flags incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Sharks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
