Huge game by Lumley boosts Mooretown over Wheatley, 5-2

Dan Lumley was all over the ice for the Mooretown Flags, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Mooretown's 5-2 win over the Wheatley Sharks.

Lumley scored 13:27 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Joe DeSena picked up the assist. Lumley dished an assist on Ryan Lyle's goal that made the score 1-1 at 8:48 into the second period. He added another helper on Ben Morrison's goal that made the score 4-2 Mooretown at 6:23 into the third period.

The Flags managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Mooretown wound up below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Wheatley was unable to stop the Flags from sending pucks towards the net, and Mooretown eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

Mooretown also got points from Lyle, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Morrison, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Brett Thompson, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Sam Jasmin, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points.

The Sharks were helped by Michael Travis, who tallied one goal. Travis scored on the power play 9:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wheatley. Wheatley earned a power play opportunity when Caden Fleming was put in the box for high sticking. Lucas Raffoul assisted on the tally. Wheatley also got a goal from Scott Florence as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Austin Thompson, Brett Bowman, and Conor Marontate, who contributed one each.

Brandon Johnson recorded 18 saves for the Flags. Mooretown registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Conner MacKinnon rejected 39 shots on goal for the Sharks. Wheatley incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
