Huge game by MacDougall boosts Lakeshore over Essex, 6-2

The Lakeshore Canadiens' Liam MacDougall had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-2 win over the Essex 73s.

MacDougall scored on the power play at 3:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeshore and again while on the power play 10:11 into the second to make the score 6-2 Lakeshore.

Lakeshore forced 73s' goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 38 shots and forcing 32 saves. Noah Hedrick made 18 stops and Colin Lauzon made 14. The Canadiens excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Lakeshore also had goals scored by JJ Percy, Zack Bedard, Connor Goodchild, and Mejoe Gasparovic, who scored one goal each. More assists for Lakeshore came via Steven Sartor, Hunter Corp, and Aaron Moore, who each chipped in one and Nick Tavolieri, Brenden Crundwell, and Luke Sanko, who contributed two each.

Essex's offense operated below its season average. The 73s average 5.0 goals per game. Essex gave up more goals than its normal season average. The 73s average 2.0 goals allowed per game.

Essex was helped by Dan Mainella, who grabbed one goal. Mainella scored 11:38 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Lakeshore. Patrick Cuffaro assisted on the tally. Essex also got a goal from Eric Shaw as well. In addition, Essex received assists from Scott Bromley, who had one.

John Jeffries made 19 saves for Lakeshore on 21 shots. The Canadiens incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
