Amherstburg beats Wallaceburg 4-3 after comeback scare

The Amherstburg Admirals survived a determined comeback attempt by the Wallaceburg Lakers on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Kasey Basile put Amherstburg up 4-2 in the third period, but Wallaceburg pulled to within one on Josh Berkvens's tally 19:48 into the third period.

The Admirals were sparked by Basile, who tallied one goal and one assist. Basile scored 18:29 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Amherstburg. Brett Beattie picked up the assist.

Amherstburg's offense rang up 36 shots on the Lakers' net.

Amherstburg additionally got points from Ryan Alexander, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Luke Gangnon, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mark Gangnon also scored for Amherstburg. More assists for Amherstburg came via Cody Leeming, Curtis Prymack, James Brooks, and Chad Copeland, who each chipped in one.

Wallaceburg was helped by Alex Ritchie, who had one goal and one assist. Ritchie scored on the power play 16:16 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Amherstburg. The Lakers had taken the advantage when the Admirals' Brett Banwell got sent off for head contact. Berkvens assisted on the tally. Wallaceburg also got points from Berkvens, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Wallaceburg also got a goal from Trevor Waller as well. In addition, Wallaceburg received assists from Jackson Gray and Brock Daugherty, who contributed one each.

Gianfranco Donato made 20 saves for Amherstburg on 23 shots. The Admirals incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Scotty Gray rejected 32 shots on goal for Wallaceburg. The Lakers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
