Mooretown holds on for 4-2 win against Wallaceburg

The Wallaceburg Lakers tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Mooretown Flags would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.

Mooretown took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Wallaceburg storm back on a Trevor Waller goal 11:33 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Ethan Dupont had two goals to lead the Flags to victory.

Mooretown kept the Lakers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joel Sowinski made 40 saves on 44 shots.

Mooretown also got points from Caden Fleming, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Matt Brandon as well. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Daytona Harrison and Dan Lumley, who each chipped in one and Austin Hewton and Joe DeSena, who contributed two each.

The Flags were unable to stop Wallaceburg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lakers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Wallaceburg was helped by Matt Clark, who racked up one goal. Clark scored on the power play 18:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wallaceburg. The Lakers had gained a power play chance when Lumley was whistled for tripping. Cory Lucier assisted on the tally.

Mooretown's Brandon Johnson stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Flags incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Wallaceburg incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Lakers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Clark was ejected from the game.
