Ritzer lifts Dresden over Blenheim, 3-1

Behind a great game by Kevin Ritzer, who had two goals, the Dresden Kings defeated the Blenheim Blades, 3-1.

Ritzer found the back of the net 16:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 10:49 into the second to make the score 2-1 Dresden.

Dresden pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 30 penalty minutes.

The Kings were held back by their power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances.

Dresden additionally got points from Taylor Sisson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Dresden received assists from Ross Krieger, who had two and Dillon Liberty, Derek Daly, and Macks Holmes, who each chipped in one.

Blenheim did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blades put an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. Blenheim could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Blades were led by Tyler Boughner, who scored the team's only goal. Boughner scored on the power play 12:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. Blenheim earned a power play opportunity when Justin Melo was put in the box for slashing. Bryan Boersma picked up the assist.

Dresden's Daniel Tonietto stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Klinton Kenney made 26 saves for the Blades on 29 shots. Blenheim registered one goal on eight power play opportunities.
