Amherstburg's Brooks deadly on offense in 4-1 win against Blenheim

Behind a great game by James Brooks, who had two goals, the Amherstburg Admirals defeated the Blenheim Blades, 4-1.

Brooks' tallies came at 2:40 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Amherstburg and 4:12 into the second to make the score 2-0 Amherstburg.

Blenheim was stymied by Amherstburg's netminder Arren Romeril, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Romeril managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.65 prior to the game.

Amherstburg also had goals scored by Curtis Prymack and Ryan Alexander, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstburg were Luke Gangnon, who had two and Mark Sobocan, Cody Leeming, Matthew Barnes, Marshal Laing, and Chad Copeland, who contributed one each.

The Blades avoided man-down situations well, registering one major for five minutes in penalty time. Blenheim finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blades did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Blenheim averages 3.2 goals per game. The Blades' offense rang up 31 shots on the Admirals' net.

Blenheim was led by Nolan VandenBoorn, who scored the team's only goal. VandenBoorn scored 7:53 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Amherstburg. Tyler Boughner assisted on the tally.

Amherstburg totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and had no power play opportunities. For the Admirals, Steven Spada was ejected from the game. Klinton Kenney recorded 23 saves for the Blades. Blenheim registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bryan Boersma was ejected from the game.
